Wars happening around the globe.
How do we face war and indifference to achieve global peace?

There Must Be Something We Can Do

1 February 2021.The day that political change deprived the people of Myanmar of their freedom. On that day, I lived in Yangon, Myanmar.I learnt that neither peace nor freedom is taken for granted.'In just one day, everything in people's life has changed.'I learnt that such unbelievable things can happen.Nowadays, the news is full of tragic scenes of people being oppressed by the military. The only thing we see on the news now is tragic scenes of people being oppressed by the military and people being killed. The Myanmar I knew was surely a beautiful country. The people who are fighting for peace and democracy now ate with their families, loved each other, and went to school. They are people who were living such a normal life, just like us.And they are the ones who were suddenly deprived of that everyday life.

Myanmar, Hong Kong, Sudan, Ukraine…
There are many people around the globe
who were deprived of freedom and their lives owing to the countries they were born.
Wars and poverty. At school, although we do learn a lot about gloal issues around the globe, we cannot see the faces of the people working hard to live there. That’s why, I believe, people are still keeping indifference toward these issues.
As children, we have neither money nor power. But by learning we can change the future in five years’ time.
I want many people to know about the beautiful, calm, and peaceful Myanmar that I love so much.
I want to tell the story of life through learning.
The Yangon Karuta Project is a group of young people aged 15-25 who share this desire.
Our mission is to confront indifference in order to create a peaceful world. We believe that communicating will lead to support for Myanmar.
We invite you to pick up a copy of the Yangon Karuta and think together about human rights and peace for people living on Earth.
